A gravel bike is built for mixed terrain — tarmac, dirt, gravel and forest trails. Versus a road bike it adds wide tyre clearance (38–50 mm), a more relaxed geometry and mounts for racks and bottles for bikepacking. When choosing, look at tyre clearance, frame material, mounts and gear range.
